My book worm

Rowan has a love for books.  She can often be found looking through books and "reading."  I love this.  She looks so cute when she does this.  In fact at her 18 month check-up, she "read" while we waited for the doctor to come in to see us.  Here are are few pics of her doing what she loves.

I love how the book is almost as big as she is.

And this is what happens when you have to take a book away to repair that a sweet 18 month old has ripped.  No worries, she was easily consoled once the book was back in her hands.

Lunch with Daddy

The kids and I often call Daddy at work and ask if we can come have lunch with him.  They love getting to see him during the day, and he enjoys the break.  We run by and pick him up with our lunches and head over to our church, which happens to be about 2 minutes away.  It has a great pond, and porch to sit on and eat lunch.  We headed up there earlier this week, since the weather was so great.

Rowan has just started saying cheese, whenever she sees the camera.  I love that her hair is long enough to put in pig tails.  I think she looks so stinkin' cute.  Thanks Daddy for a break in our day and a nice lunch outside.  We will be very sad when your office moves, but hopefully we can find another great park.

A Busted Lip

A few weeks ago, Stone was standing on Doug's stomach and jumping off.  Well, at one point, he slipped off and hit his mouth on the couch.  Makes me shudder just thinking about it... I immediately scooped him up and looked at his mouth.  There wasn't much blood, but I could instantly tell that his front tooth had been knocked back a little bit.  I called the after hours nurse at our pediatrician, and she said just to give him some ibuprofen, lots of popsicles, and smoothies.  What kid doesn't love that treatment??  Well, he went to bed with his mouth looking just fine, and at 1:00 AM when he woke up hurting, his top lip was HUGE!!  So we gave him some more medicine and a popsicle.

Over the next several days, when he would get upset, he would tell us that a popsicle would make him feel better...working the system, YES definitely.

These pictures don't really do it justice.  It took a few days, the swelling went down, and he was back to normal. His tooth surprisingly has already started to move back into place.  It was definitely scary when it first happened.

Pig Tails

Look at sweet Rowan's new hair style.  I absolutely love that her hair is long enough to put in pig tails.

Our trip to Biloxi

A couple weeks ago we headed to Biloxi, MS with Doug's family.  We spent a week there, just relaxing and enjoying the beach.  We were so blessed to stay in a 3 bedroom condo, so there was plenty of room for all of us.
The kids enjoyed playing with Lacey and Summer.  They followed them where ever they went.
Silly Rowan wearing her Bubba's hat

One day we headed out to Ship Island.  It was an hour ferry ride out there.  Stone loved the boat ride.  We saw dolphins along the way.  There was a storm rolling in as we got closer.  Surprisingly it didn't hit until right before we left.  Then it down poured on us as we walked back to the boat.  Memories were definitely made.

Stone was so exhausted that he crashed before the boat ever got going.

This is the first time that Stone insisted on pushing the buttons on the elevator.  It's the simple things, right?
We had a great time with family, slept a little (since we were all in 1 room), and ate great food (thanks, Grandma).  We can't wait to go on another Tigert family trip next year.

New Kicks

Nonnie bought Rowan some hot pink Converse while she was in Corpus, and Rowan couldn't be more excited to wear them.  I put them on to see if they fit, and she refused to take them off.  She strutted around the house in them and fell a few times as she got used to walking with shoes on her sweet feet.

Thanks, Nonnie!

Happy Belated Birthday, Buddy!!

This year, Stone's birthday fell on a Saturday, so we planned on having his party that day.  We had a donut party, and all the kids wore their jammies to help celebrate.  Unfortunately we missed getting a shot of Stone blowing out his birthday donut.
Once he saw the presents, he immediately asked if he could open them.  It didn't take long before he was wanting to play with each toy, which in turn drug the present opening on and on.
That evening, we ate pizza and cupcakes.  As you can see he stayed in his jammies all day.

Stone is a fun kid!  He is slightly timid about new situations, and would prefer staying at home.  He LOVES his daddy, which is fun to see. He is caring and tenderhearted.  He loves to be outside playing on his fort or in his sandbox.  We are so blessed to have him as our son.  I can't wait to see what this year holds.  Happy 3rd birthday, Buddy!!  We love you.

Children's Museum

About a month ago, Melissa and I headed to the Children's Museum to celebrate her boys' birthdays.  We were very excited to go.  The kids had a great time.  Stone was not a fan of the HUGE dinosaurs they had in the lobby for the dinosaur exhibit.  He cried and wanted to get away from them quickly.

Colton was trying to show Stone that the dinosaurs were ok in the last picture.  What a sweet friend to comfort Stone.  We couldn't ask for better friends and we are so thankful to have Colton, Brody, and Ms. "Lissa" in our lives.

Happy 1st Birthday!!

Dear Rowan,

You turned 1 last Thursday, and your Daddy and I couldn't be more excited.  You have been so fun to get to know over this past year, and I can't wait to see your personality continue to unfold.  You are definitely opinionated.  You are also a little spitfire!!  You have the best smile.  People always comment on how laid back and happy you are.  I continue to be your favorite (for now at least).  Although as soon as you hear Daddy's voice when he comes home from work, you get REALLY excited.  As far as size goes, you continue to be petite.  You only weigh 18 lbs 2 oz.  That is only 10 pounds more than you weighed at birth.  Dr. de doesn't seem to be too concerned about it, but he said we would just continue to keep an eye on it.  You still aren't saying any words, but you understand so much.  You do sign for more, and we can tell you are done with your meal, because you throw your cup on the floor.  Anytime you hear other people clapping, you clap along.

You are such a joy, and as much as I want you to continue growing, I sure am going to miss my sweet little girl that we have right now!!

I love you,
Mommy

Humility

Nothing can make a person quite as humble as having their sweet boy throw up all over a store, and then having to carry him out of the store with EVERY shopper staring because he is in his underwear and Converse.  Now let's just hope that our sweet girl doesn't get this stomach bug, and that Stone doesn't throw up anymore.  Once is enough for this Mama.

Our view from today

We woke up to a ton of snow, and right after breakfast, I bundled Stone up and we played in it.  He absolutely loves it.  Not quite snowman material snow, since it falls apart.  It really makes me want to go skiing.  I enjoy experiencing these events through Stone's eyes.  Makes life that much sweeter.  After nap, we are going to make some snow ice cream.  Yum Yum!

Handy Hubby

We have been wanting to build Stone a kitchen tower after he fell of a chair several days in a row.  He likes to help me feed Rowan and see what I am doing as I cook, so Doug researched and found plans online, bought the supplies, and got to work. Stone had to help Daddy as he worked.  Doug was wearing his head lamp, because the lighting in our garage is horrible, so Stone had to put one on as well.

I am so impressed with his work and now all we have to do is paint the tower.  Thanks honey for building this for the kids.  I can't wait to see them use it for years to come.
