A visit with Pops

Doug, Stone, and I headed to Sedona, AZ to see my dad for a couple days at the beginning of December. I was a little worried about the trip. We were leaving at 6 AM!! To my surprise Stone did wonderfully on the airplane. He woke up as we went through security, and I thought he wouldn't go back to sleep. We were able to bring his car seat on the plane, because the flight wasn't full. I fed him as we took off and then he fell asleep for the rest of the flight. He woke up 20 minutes before we landed!!! Yeah Stone!

While we were there, we decided to try out a high chair. Stone loved it. He played with his toys and relaxed in the chair. No more bringing in the car seat! Doug and I are very thankful for that. He is so big now, that it is nearly impossible to carry him in the car seat.
We enjoyed the beautiful scenery of Sedona. As you can see my dad has a great view of all the beautiful red rock.

On Friday, we got in the car and headed up to see Montezuma's Well, and Montezuma's castle. Montezuma's castle is old Indian ruins in the side of a cliff. It is amazing to me that people once lived in these cliff dwellings. I can't imagine climbing up ladders to get to them. I would love to have been able to climb up into them and look around, but no such luck of course.

Montezuma's Well is a large natural spring in the middle of the desert. There were cliff dwellings there too.

We enjoyed our time out in Arizona. Stone enjoyed spending time with Pops.

Our plane ride home was great as well. Stone was awake much more, but he never once fussed. There was a 3 week old baby behind us on the flight!!! I can't imagine that. I purposefully sat next to them so that if she cried and Stone cried, it wouldn't be so noticeable.

Braces free...well almost

I just realized that I never posted a picture of Kimbralie with her braces off. She only got the top ones off, but is super excited to have that. You can't really tell she has the bottom ones on still. Nothing has been said about when the bottom braces will come off. Here is a picture of her beautiful smile.

So, it has been quite a while since I have posted anything. I think it has been about a month to be exact! That is way too long. So many things have happened in such a short time. We had Stone's 6 month check up.
Here are his stats:

Weight- 17 lbs 5 ozs. (50%)
Height- 25 3/4 inches (20%)
Head- 17 3/4 inches (85%)
Both his height and weight have dropped in the percentiles, but his head just keeps going up. :) I like to think that he is going to be really smart.

Stone is now reaching up to us when we go to pick him up. I think we are in the beginning of weariness towards strangers, but it quickly goes away after he has given them the once over and his is their best friend. He has started to attempt crawling. He is up on his knees rocking, and if you put your hand behind his feet, he pushes off of them. He is no longer in his infant tub. He was much too big for it. So we have him in an in-between tub that sits in a regular bathtub.

He loves bathtime!
Sippy Cup
We have introduced him to a sippy cup. He just plays with it mostly, and I hold it to his mouth for him to suck on and see that water comes out of it. Here are some pictures of his first time holding the cup.

Which end is up?

Maybe this handle tastes good.

It feels good on my gums.
Almost got it.

As you can see most of the water ended up on his shirt, but he is getting better at it. He is eating cereal now, and we are about to introduce veggies to him. We waited until he was 6 months old to start solids, because our pediatrician didn't think he needed the extra calories. I don't know why he thought that. ;)
Sleepy Little Man
About a month ago, I was cooking dinner and trying to entertain Stone at the same time. It had been a long day and I don't think a good afternoon nap had been taken. Stone was sitting in his walker playing with toys. I was singing to him which he was enjoying. He would fuss at me whenever I stopped singing. I looked over at him as I was singing and all of a sudden his eyes shut and his head bobbed forward. He completely fell asleep. I had to grab my camera and snap a few pictures before I got him out of the walker.

Poor Little Guy

Stone's first tooth!!
Stone now has his first tooth. I got a great picture of it. I didn't even notice it was there until my friend, Kim, was feeling his gums and told me it was poking through. Well, it is doing much more than just poking through now. Doug used to let him chew on his fingers, but no more now that the tooth has arrived. It hurts to have him chomp down on your finger.

My first attempt
I have started to crochet. My friend, Kelly, refreshed my memory on crochet, and I attempted my first project a hat for Stone. I absolutely love little beanies on him, and what a cheap way to make them. It is a tad on the big side, but he will grow into it.
