Costumes and Surprises

We had a busy week last week. It started with a costume party with our church playgroup. The kids all looked so cute in their costumes. It has been fun to watch the kids grow and see how they can start to interact in some ways. Stone is always fascinated by the other kids in the room when we go. Stone dressed up as a penguin. Here are some pictures from the day.

Then on Wednesday Stone, Nonnie (My mom, we were calling her Nonna, but figured with would be too confusing having a Nonna and Nana. Sounds too similar, thus a name change was needed.), and I headed out of town to surprise Nana for her 86th birthday! We stopped in Wimberley to stay with Aunt Joyce and Uncle Andy. Stone was such a trooper during the day, but a horrible sleeper at night! I was thankful to get home and have Doug take over nightime for a break last night.

While we were in Corpus, we decided to try some rice cereal. Our hope was it would give me a break, and Stone would sleep more. No such luck though. I think he is going through a growth spurt, because he seems to be hungry all the time, and I am starving all the time.
Here is Nana. She is looking down at Stone. We set him on her doorstep and rang the doorbell. When she opened it she was shocked to see Stone.

He loves his Nana. The whole time we were there, he would look over at her and just smile. She could make him giggle and smile instantly.
Stone trying cereal. He didn't quite master pushing it back with his tongue, but he would open hisd mouth when he saw the spoon coming.
Nana bought Stone a jumper that you hang in the doorway. He absolutely loved it, as you can see from the pic.
We also discovered that a water bottle lasts for quite a long time as entertainment for a 5 month old. When in doubt, give him a water bottle.

Farmer's Market and the Arboretum

Well, we had quite a fun Saturday this weekend. We had plans to go to the Farmer's Market with my mom. I have lived in Dallas almost 30 years, and I don't think I have ever been down there. It was a lot of fun. We bought some fresh fruit and tasted a lot of it as we went. I had grand plans of getting some pictures of Stone with the huge pumpkins, but of course he slept the whole time, which I was fine with since he hadn't had a nap at all. Some of these cost $120...Really for a pumpkin?!
So, Doug and I took a picture in front of the pumpkins instead.

We decided to head to the Arboretum since they have their pumpkin patch right now. The weather was so great, so we decided to head that way. Of course, everyone else decided that it was a good day to go as well, so it was a little crowded. Stone was such a trooper. He truly is an easy baby. He is so social and loves to look around and see what is going on. It is fun to watch him notice the trees and birds as we walk outside. Here are a few of our favorites from the weekend.

A busy weekend

We went to Tyler last Friday night with Doug's parents. Stone didn't sleep well at all. He enjoyed being around the family. He is becoming such a social baby. He loves to see what is going on and enjoys being involved in everything.

Then on Saturday, we went to a wedding of our friends, Gary and Emily. Stone was such a great baby. He stayed up until 9:30 and didn't even fuss until we were heading to the car. It was so good to catch up with old friends and to see two sweet friends get married. To add to a wonderful day, Stone slept from 10 pm to 5:30 am!!! A whole 7 1/2 hours. I was in shock when I woke up. Then he went back to sleep after I fed him for another 3 hours. Oh how I miss sleep, but it is well worth the sacrifice for our sweet boy.

Our wonderful family!

On another note, Kimbralie will be getting her braces off in a couple weeks. She is so excited to have them off and we are excited to see what only one year of braces will do! I will post her brace free smile once that happens.

Stone is finding his voice. He gurgles and babbles all day, especially as he wakes up from naps and right before he goes to sleep.
